Dental Implants

Living with missing teeth is difficult. At one point in time, you will realize that it is essential to replace them. Missing teeth not only impact your aesthetics but your oral and overall health as well. Dental implants are considered a sought-after option to restore your missing teeth and solve your oral concern permanently.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts placed surgically into your jawbone and act as a root for your missing teeth. Once our dentist sets the implants in their position, they are further attached to the replacement teeth like dental crowns, bridges, and dentures.

What is the Procedure of Dental Implants?

The treatment starts with an initial consultation where our dentist performs a comprehensive oral examination to evaluate your eligibility for implants. To be eligible for this procedure, you need to have good oral and overall health. You should also have a healthy jawbone with a good density and depth. Patients with a low jawbone density have to first undergo bone grafting surgery to get dental implants.

Our dentist will numb the site of the treatment with local anesthesia. They will make an incision in your gums, after which they will make a hole in your underlying jawbone. We will fix the implant in place and suture your gums. A temporary dental crown will be attached to this implant to restore the functionality of your tooth.

You will be given a healing time of 4-6 months when your implant will fuse to the surrounding bone and become its integral part. This healing period is known as osseointegration and makes your dental implant stable and sturdy. Once the dental implant is fused with the surrounding bone, our dentist will remove the temporary dental crown placed earlier and replace it with the final restoration, i.e., a custom-made dental crown. This restoration looks and feels a lot like the natural tooth you missed.

What are the Advantages of Dental Implants?

There may be numerous options of restorative dentistry to treat missing teeth. However, dental implants provide the best solution for them. There are various advantages of implants over other treatment options, such as:

  • Dental implants restore both the crown and roots of your missing teeth and provide strong anchoring of your replacement teeth.
  • They appear, feel, and function just like your natural teeth.
  • Dental implants are custom-made according to the unique requirements of the patient. They fit perfectly into your mouth.
  • Unlike dentures, dental implants do not slip out of place.
  • Dental implants restore bite force and let you chew your food with the same force as your natural teeth.
  • Implants are not exposed to decay or cavities as they are made from artificial materials.
  • Dental implants also give strong support to your neighboring teeth.
